How bad was KU’s loss to TCU? This bad

The Kansas City Star
Combined with Saturday’s loss to Oklahoma State at Allen Fieldhouse, fifth-ranked Kansas’ 62-55 defeat at TCU on Wednesday marked the first time in 264 games that the Jayhawks lost back-to-back games.
It’s arguable that this group of losses was worst than the last time Bill Self’s team lost consecutive games: 59-55 to Kansas State at home and 89-86 in overtime at Missouri on Jan. 14 and 16, 2006.
While Oklahoma State cracked the top 25 this week after upsetting then-No. 2 KU 85-80 on Saturday, TCU is dreadful. The Horned Frogs were 9-12 and 0-8 in the Big 12 entering Wednesday’s game and held a ratings percentage index of 237.
KU also achieved another forgettable first in the Self era against TCU: Fewest points in a half — 13. The Jayhawks trailed 22-13 at the break and by as many as 16 in the second half.
As for the K-State and MU teams that beat KU in 2006, Jim Wooldridge was coaching the Wildcats and on his way to getting fired after a 15-13 finish. And Quin Snyder was almost history in Columbia, where the Tigers finished 12-16 after Snyder was shown the door before the season ended.
The last time KU lost three games in a row? At Texas Tech (80-79 in double overtime), to Iowa State (63-61 in overtime) and at Oklahoma (71-63) on Feb. 14, 19 and 21, 2005. That’s also the season KU lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to 14th-seeded Bucknell.
