Lawmakers planning to ban use of Google Glass during driving

Google Glass in train
Driving is fun, and is dangerous too. There are certain things you should not do while you are driving. In some states, the jurisdiction tells you what not to do while you are driving. For example, the very well known list of things which are banned in most parts of the world include no drink and drive, no talking on the phone while driving, no texting while driving, and much more. And to add to this list, we have no Google Glass while driving. But this is going to be only for people living in West Virginia.
This is because the lawmakers in West Virginia are working on banning Google Glass while driving saying that it is dangerous and a distraction while driving. I agree with that. And the law makers are not banning Google Glass only, they are covering the whole genre of devices by saying that “using a wearable computer with head mounted display,” in general should be banned. Again, I agree with that.
CNET’s Chris Matyszczyk writes that this might be a result of the rising popularity of Google Glass. Congressman Gary G. Howell wrote Matyszczyk that the bill was targeted at the young population of the state as this is the population which will be the early adopter of the new technology, also the inexperienced driving population. That is not a good mix. “It is mostly the young that are the tech-savvy that try new things. They are also our most vulnerable and underskilled drivers. We heard of many crashes caused by texting and driving, most involving our youngest drivers. I see the Google Glass as an extension.”
We can also see some shops banning the use of Google Glass inside their private premises, which makes sense due to the recording capability of the Google Glass without any kind of indication. So, what do you think of this bill? Should it be passed?
