Mike Ribeiro scored the go-ahead goal with 2:16 remaining as the Washington Capitals rallied past the Carolina Hurricanes, 3-2, to split a home-and-home series. Alex Ovechkin had a goal and an assist for the Capitals, who avenged a 4-0 loss to the Hurricanes on Tuesday. Joey Crabb also lit the lamp in the win. Michal Neuvirth made 36 saves for Washington, which snapped a three-game skid as well. Alexander Semin and Patrick Dwyer scored for the Hurricanes, who had won six of seven coming in. Dan Ellis stopped 22-of-25 shots.

Patrick Kane came through with the deciding goal in the shootout as the Chicago Blackhawks registered their 11th consecutive victory over the Blue Jackets with a 2-1 decision at Nationwide Arena. Kane also assisted on Johnny Oduya's regulation score, while Jonathan Toews also tallied during the shootout portion to help Chicago end a string of two straight losses following a 24-game run of earning at least one point to begin the season. Corey Crawford came up with 29 saves before turning aside 2-of-3 Columbus skaters in the shootout. While Columbus fell despite a 39-save effort from Sergei Bobrovsky, it still managed to notch a point for a franchise-record ninth straight contest (5-0-4). Jack Johnson accounted for the Blue Jackets' lone marker.

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Patrice Bergeron scored two goals, and the Boston Bruins overcame some lapses in lethargy to beat the struggling Florida Panthers, 4-1, at TD Garden. Tuukka Rask made 29 saves for the Bruins, who have won four of their last five games. Scott Clemmensen stopped 28 shots for Florida, which has dropped five straight games and eight of nine overall.

Anders Lindback gave up just one goal on 28 shots for the Lightning, who have dropped eight of their past 10 games.

Winnipeg, MB (Sports Network) - Antti Miettinen scored the lead goal in the second period and Andrew Ladd netted a late insurance tally, as Winnipeg downed the New York Rangers, 3-1, at MTS Centre. Nik Antropov lit the lamp in the first period and Ondrej Pavelec stopped 28-of-29 shots for the Jets, who have won four of their last five games. Henrik Lundqvist made 30 saves and Ryan Callahan provided the lone offense for the Rangers, who have lost three of four.

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Jake Allen posted 28 saves for his first career shutout as the St. Louis Blues took a 3-0 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday. Chris Stewart scored twice and added an assist, while Alex Steen had a goal and two assists for the Blues, who won for a fourth time in their past five games. David Backes added two assists in the win. Mike Smith allowed all three goals on 30 shots for the Coyotes, who had a two-game winning streak stopped.

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Bobby Ryan and Ryan Getzlaf scored in the shootout to lift the Anaheim Ducks over the Dallas Stars, 2-1, on Thursday. Andrew Cogliano scored in regulation for the Ducks, who had lost four straight against Dallas. Jonas Hiller made 33 saves. Anaheim, which picked up its fifth consecutive victory, played without the services of forward Corey Perry, who served the first of a four-game ban for an illegal hit against Minnesota's Jason Zucker in Tuesday's 2-1 road victory over the Wild. Ray Whitney lit the lamp for the Stars, who have lost three in a row. Kari Lehtonen made 29 saves.
