David S. Goyer - David S. Goyer: I have Man of Steel sequel ideas

David S. Goyer already has ideas for a 'Man of Steel' sequel.

The film's screenwriter, who is reportedly contracted to write a follow-up to the highly anticipated Superman reboot, admits he has already begun brainstorming plot details for the sequel film.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at the 'Man of Steel' European premiere in London's Leicester Square on Wednesday (12.06.13), he said: ''I'm under lock and key, but it would be disingenuous to say we didn't [have ideas].''
It was reported earlier this week that movie studio Warner Bros. had tapped the scribe to pen a Superman sequel and a 'Justice League' film, which would unite several DC Comics superheroes including Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.
However, Goyer insists the proposed movies will be contingent on the success of 'Man of Steel', which hits cinemas worldwide this weekend.
He said: ''A lot is going to depend on this weekend and next weekend. We certainly are hoping for a sequel.''
The writer, who also penned Christopher Nolan's critically acclaimed Batman film 'The Dark Knight Rises', admits Superman was a ''much harder character to crack''.
He explained: ''Batman is human; if you had enough money, enough training, you could become Batman. No one can become Superman. He's an alien and he's got virtually no vulnerabilities. He's harder to identify with and that was the biggest challenge; trying to humanize someone who is inhuman.
''Also, he's become a little bit corny, a little clichéd, so we needed to give him a little gravitas back so that's why we got rid of the red underwear and the spit-curl [hairstyle]. He's not the big blue Boy Scout. He's still a hero, but he's a hero for the 21st Century.''
Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel' sees British actor Henry Cavill take the lead role as the iconic superhero, while Amy Adams plays his love interest, roving reporter Lois Lane. The cast also includes Michael Shannon as villain General Zod, Russell Crowe as Superman's biological father Jor-El, and Kevin Costner as his adoptive father Jonathan Kent.
