NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Local volunteers will head to Mississippi Friday to help after the massive storms killed three people and destroyed homes.
The Nashville Chapter of the Red Cross will head to Noxubee County, Mississippi. They will take three emergency response vehicles and supplies.
One tornado in Mississippi stayed on the ground for 56 miles, destroying homes and businesses. That tornado killed one and injured several others in the far eastern part of the state.
Mississippi Governor Phil Bryan declared a state of emergency in Kemper and Noxubee counties following the deadly tornado.
The volunteers from Nashville's Red Cross hope to help those who have nothing left after the storm.
