President Obama heads west Wednesday, seeking to rally gun-control supporters and raise money for Democratic congressional candidates.
The first stop is Denver, where the president will visit a police academy and urge Americans "to join him in calling on Congress to pass common-sense measures to reduce gun violence," says the White House schedule.
Colorado legislators recently approved new gun-control measures, including expanded background checks, and Obama will discuss them with local law enforcement officials and community leaders.
After Denver, Obama heads to San Francisco and appearances at a pair of fundraisers for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Obama spends the night in the city by the bay; he has another Democratic fundraiser in California before returning to the White House on Thursday.
