Two lawmakers want to establish a new national park on the surface of the moon. It would be at the site of the Apollo Lunar Landings.
There’s concern over the potential damage to the sites by commercial flights to the moon along with missions by other nations.
The Apollo Lunar Landing Legacy Act will have to follow a treaty that states the United States technically can’t claim the land. It can, however, designate the artifacts left behind – like landing gear and footprints – as a national historical park.
