Dick Van Dyke is doing OK after he was rescued from his burning
sports car on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon.
According to TMZ, the actor, 87, was extracted from his Jaguar by Jason Pennington, who pulled over when he saw a car engulfed in smoke on the freeway and discovered that the person trapped inside was Van Dyke.
The Associated Press reported that Van Dyke required no medical treatment and was not issued a citation.
Van Dyke's wife, Arlene, tweeted that the star was OK after the incident, the Los Angeles Times reported. She included a Vine video of the aftermath that shows the burned-out shell of the car and Van Dyke talking with officers from the California Highway Patrol.
