A UPS plane crashed while approaching Birmingham, Ala., airport on Wednesday morning, the Federal Aviation Administration has confirmed.
The cargo plane, an A300 aircraft, which does not ordinarily carry passengers, was en route from Louisville, Kentucky, when it crashed near a field.
UPS confirmed that it had been notified of the incident, but had no further details.
The Birmingham Airport Authority told CNN that the crash happened outside the fence of Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.
It was not immediately clear if there were any injuries.
